FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Products & Quality Classes
Where can I find my VIN?
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your Mercedes-Benz can be found in your vehicle registration (registration certificate part I).
If you enter this in the search mask for wheels, we will only show you the items that fit your vehicle. If your vehicle has mixed tires – i.e., different tire sizes on the front and rear axles – there may be deviations in this VIN query. In this case, please contact us at +49 711 17 70000. Every car has a so-called "VIN". VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. Previously and colloquially still often referred to as "chassis number". The VIN has 17 characters and consists of three parts: The beginning contains the manufacturer code and production country. WDD, for example, stands for Mercedes-Benz in Germany. The next part breaks down the series and model year as well as the engine and vehicle type. Based on the VIN, accessories as well as spare and component parts and, of course, wheels can be clearly and accurately assigned.
Which part is approved for my vehicle?
What do the numbers in the tire size mean?
What does complete and single part mean?
What does the speed index mean?
What does the designation M+S mean?
The M+S on your tires stands for Mud and Snow. Tires with this label are not suitable for winter operation. Since October 2024, the "Alpine symbol" is mandatory in Germany and marks approved winter tires.
What is a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)?
Since 2014, according to ECE-R 64, all new cars must be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that helps prevent accidents caused by incorrect tire pressure or slow punctures.
What does 'A- and B-quality' mean for parts and wheels?
The quality classes provide information about possible signs of use, corrosion, scratches in the base material, discoloration due to brake dust, and an estimate of the reconditioning effort. You can find all the information here.
Are the wheel hub covers or screws included with the wheel sets?
Wheel hub covers or wheel bolts are not included with the rims. You can order wheel covers separately from us, the range can be found here.
Is there an installation option on site?
No. If you want to have your used part installed in a Mercedes-Benz specialist workshop, our partner workshops can help you. You can find all the information here.
Is it possible to sell my old parts?
No, we do not buy parts, wheels, tires, or rims.
What does DOT mean for tires?
The specified DOT number of the tires stands for "Department of Transportation", i.e., the manufacturing date and tire age. The four-digit number is embossed on the tire sidewall. The code includes the production week and the production year. The DOT number is therefore an important criterion when buying used and new tires. Example: A tire with DOT 1920 was produced in week 19 of the year 2020.
What does sawtooth formation mean?
Sawtooth formation is an oblique wear of the tread blocks of the tire. These are usually located on the outer flanks of a tire. Sawtooth formation rarely affects driving behavior. Often, the formation of sawtooth is caused by incorrect tire pressures or misalignment of the axle settings on the vehicle. However, this is neutralized after a few kilometers when the tire pressure is corrected.
What does 'tread was thermally stressed' mean?
At high speeds on summer roads, winter tires are subjected to far higher thermal stress than summer tires. The treads of summer tires are equipped with a heat-resistant tread compound to withstand these extreme stresses.
What should I consider with mixed tires?
If your vehicle has mixed tires – i.e., different tire sizes on the front and rear axles – please note that with certain combinations, the hit list may not be compatible with the VIN entry! This mainly affects hybrid vehicles, the T-model, as well as AMG packages or sport brake vehicles. Please contact our customer service for advice.
Are the wheel sets equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system?
All new vehicles have been equipped with this system since 2014. Further information on whether a TPMS sensor is installed in the respective item can be found in the product description. Click on "Specification" for this. Here you will find the information TPMS sensor "Yes" or "No".
